Germany – Karlsruhe, Friedberg, Unterschleißheim: Microsoft Deutschland GmbH, ontoprise GmbH, a leading provider of semantic technologies and applications, and CRG Information Services GmbH, a service provider with focus on Microsoft technologies, unveiled a partnership. The objective is to make semantic technologies from ontoprise available as additional modules for the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS).
In the context of this cooperation it is planned to integrate the following ontoprise products into SharePoint:

SemanticGuide, an interactive solution for problem diagnosis and decision support (semantic advisor system)

SemanticMiner, a unique, dynamic navigation and context-sensitive semantic search
Additionally it is planned to extend the SharePoint Wiki functionality by semantic Wiki technologies from ontoprise.
The customers benefit will be a faster and easier access to all business-information, in particular to the non-explicitly stated information. This information can be derived by logical dependencies (e.g. rules), contained in the knowledge base (ontology).
The integration in SharePoint will offer additional advantages to the users. For example:
- Integration of ontology-based navigation and search capabilities against the SharePoint information. So far, information is organized in classical portal-hierarchies. The semantics module provided by ontoprise presents information in suitable context to the user’s actual working area – similar to the Office Fluent user interface in Microsoft Office 2007.
- Logical combination of information. That means free definable objects like projects, events, subjects, processes, etc. in SharePoint can be linked among each other. These links are directly connected to the knowledge base, deriving and presenting information in a novel way.
Within this partnership among ontoprise, CRG and Microsoft, the entire range of Microsoft’s powerful business software will be enhanced with semantic technologies from ontoprise. Because of the various benefits for customers, this cooperation offers all three companies new considerable market growth.
CRG will thereby integrate the semantic technologies from ontoprise into MOSS. Ontoprise delivers – besides its core technologies – many years of know-how in developing semantic technologies, fire proven and hardened in diverse Top 100 customer projects. Microsoft supports the activities of ontoprise and CRG with its experienced technology team.
